On-demand movies. On-demand shopping. On-demand groceries. On-demand education. The future of education is here, and it’s online. The number of students opting to take courses online is growing, and so is the demand for educators who are trained to develop and teach online courses.
SWU’s online Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design will provide you with the key skills and tangible experiences you need to succeed as a modern-day teacher or educator.
This 4-course graduate certificate focuses on instructional design and leadership. As an added benefit, SWU offers all students a 50% discount on the cost of the fourth course.
As a student enrolled in the program, you will study:
- The foundations of online curriculum design and e-learning.
- How to create an online classroom for both synchronous (“real time”) and asynchronous instruction.
- How to develop e-learning curriculums that function across multiple socioeconomic classes and geographies.
- How to monitor progress and assess the quality of student work as an e-instructor.
In addition, SWU’s Christian ethic of care is integrated into each course. Upon completion of each course, you will receive graduate credit, which may be used toward the pursuit of a full M.Ed. in eLearning and Instructional Design.
Teachers in South Carolina who earn their Instructional Design Graduate Certificate from SWU are also eligible for the SC Department of Education Online Teacher Endorsement. This certificate does not lead to teacher certification.
Upon successful completion of all four courses you will receive an official and verified certificate, along with a digital badge that can be displayed across social networks.
In addition, there is zero cost for the textbooks in all four courses of the Instructional Design Certificate program. The textbooks are made up of OER digital texts and content, made available from faculty advocates around the world or resources accessible from the Rickman Library.
