‘Canine comfort’ during finals week

May 6, 2015 | Student Life

Southern Wesleyan University student Michaela Carter of Mauldin took a break from studying for her finals and got to know Bonnie, a Dalmatian, as her owner Margaret Ptacek looked on.

Ptacek and several other volunteers from SCDogs Therapy Group visited SWU students at the Central campus May 4 with their registered therapy dogs. SCDogs volunteers also visit schools with “Bark,” a reading program, and “Fix it Fido,” an anti-bullying program. Other locations they visit include children’s camps, nursing homes and hospice facilities in Anderson, Oconee and Pickens Counties as well as Northeast Georgia. Their website is www.scdogs.org
