Drummer Stockton Helbing, who has performed with jazz great Maynard Ferguson, keeps rhythm while listening to a young drummer during jazz camp at Southern Wesleyan University in Central. Helbing is among an elite group of jazz musicians who conducted the camp, which took place June 22-26. During this year’s camp, 43 student musicians fine-tuned their jazz skills and jammed with professional musicians from across the nation. The camp also included free concerts at Folger Fine Arts Auditorium and in downtown Central.
