Sinnamon graduated with a zoology degree from Houghton College in Western New York. He then taught at Houghton Academy, a college prep high school, for eight years, where he taught various science courses, coached various sports and sponsored the Student Government Association.
Sinnamon began teaching at Southern Wesleyan University in 1982. He started the intercollegiate baseball program at SWU in 1985 and coached for seven years. He also sponsored the Student Government Association for six years. Over the years, Sinnamon has worked with a number of different students on research projects. He was special assistant to the president for institutional effectiveness (planning, institutional research, assessment) for 10 years. He served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for 11 years and chair of the science division. Sinnamon currently teaches human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and comparative physiology.
